Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for June 16th, 2021. In today’s big-pants article, we’ve got a bit of news to go through. Not the least of which being what was shown in that scorching hot E3 presentation. A new 2D Metroid! They brought my baby back! After the news, we have some new releases to check out including a couple of surprise drops. And then… there are some sales. Not all the sales. Not enough hours in a day. But I have a bunch of them for you. The best of them? You decide. Let’s go!
There were a lot of surprises in the Nintendo Direct, but one that only appeared in the Japanese version of the broadcast was that a trio of Cave games would be coming to Switch from Live Wire, a developer with several former Cave employees in its number. One of the three announced titles actually hit the shop today: Mushihimesama. It’s a vertical-scrolling bullet hell shoot-em-up in the cookin’ Cave manner, with white-knuckle action and some of the most ridiculous curtains of bullets you’ll ever see in a game. There are lots of options in here, but if you’ve played the PC port of the game you’ll largely know what to expect. I’ll be reviewing this game, but it’s not like you need me to tell you that Mushihimesama is ridiculously awesome. Oh, and don’t worry, you can turn that filter off.buy mir4 gold
A tower defense game with a toy theme, Plastic Rebellion has a promising set-up but ultimately fails in its execution. First of all, I’ll give kudos to leaning into the whole toy warfare thing. The battle areas aren’t the most detailed but they are colorful and pop nicely. The gameplay unfortunately is bog-standard at best. At worst? Well, let’s just say that this game often feels like it has big ambitions but can’t pull them off. Probably best to give it a pass unless you are really into the concept to the point that you’ll forgive a large list of flaws.
