Checklist after immigration/Solve basic tasks.

If you have chosen a country such as Canada and have already done all the consultations with specialists such as immigration consultant Edmonton then you have already moved and started to settle your life.

After immigration

Solve basic tasks.

Immediately after the move, I recommend taking a break from work for at least 2-4 weeks to close out all the basic household issues and get settled in.

What I mean by that:

Find and rent a place to live for the first six months to a year, or longer.

Find out where the stores, pharmacies, bank, post office, gas stations are near you

Find out if there are convenience stores, Russian stores, and pharmacies where you can buy the usual drugs

Find out which Internet Service Provider has the best signal in your area.

Open a bank account and get a bank credit card
Find out which mobile provider is best in your area and get a local phone number

Figure out what public transportation, if any, is available (subway, buses) and what fare options are available.

If you have kids, do your research on what schools are nearby, where you can enroll, when, and do what you need to do to get there.

If you read books - find out where the library is and if you can borrow books in print or electronic format.

If you plan to drive, get a local driver's license, but check first if your international license is valid.

Investigate the costs of buying a car - insurance, parking.

Investigate where you can buy a car/scooter/bicycle.

research where to buy kitchen utensils, furniture, clothes (IKEA might even be around for a while).
