A new Draft mode 2k23 mt, and a revamped mode, The 100. Unfortunately, all of these modes look sloppy and lack any fresh excitement to the table of competitive play. In addition, it's in these mode that the microtransactions, which are in NBA 2K23 really show.

While trying to jump into the games of pickup in MyCareer without spending money can be daunting, the NBA games and the practice sessions could provide an immediate boost to the endeavor when done right. In MyTeam, the lack of depth in the competitive mode makes competing against players who have already spent money on packs that much more difficult. It also makes single-player games more appealing.

It's nearly impossible to play in any mode in the recent NBA 2K game without running into microtransactions. And 2K23 is no different. However 2K has been doing it so much now that it's almost the norm for those who play regularly, evidence that 2K has merely taught players to be used to these types of games.

With the exception of the poor microtransactions as well as the overloaded hubs, the main negatives are the mediocre developments on MyLeague, MyGM, and The W. Each of these games is still played great, but it's obvious they're not a primary goal. 2K23 offers nothing new over the game of last year for players who appreciate these games, aside from improved gameplay should players take to the court.

However, even with its flaws NBA 2K23 still lands as an excellent game for its on-court gameplay, not to mention its graphics. It is more smooth as well as more intuitive. The game truly shines thanks to the tactile feedback that comes with PS5 that makes each movement feel exciting. There's still some kinks to work out however, this NBA 2K ship is heading forward in the right direction with the release of NBA 2K23.
