Kesler talks about making nice with former rivals

If Ryan Kesler knew he would one day become teammates with two of his most hated rivals, it might have given him pause before agreeingtomodel underwearorposenakedfor ESPN.

But such is life for the Canuck-turned-Duck, who Kennys Vargas Jersey ostensibly has provided endle s locker-room ammunition for Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlafas the three transition from gunning for oneanother's throats on opposite sidesof one of the NHL's fiercest rivalries to chasing a Stanley Cup togetheron the same team.

Kesler, who was traded to Anaheim in the offseason after spending 10 years with Vancouver, wrote about fitting in with a new teamin an e say for thePlayers' Tribune titled, "The 30-Year-Old Rookie."He offers an interesting perspective, some of which is seen through the eye holesof a gorilla costume.

"Ill never forget the feeling of that first day at training camp, though," Kesler Paul Molitor Jersey wrote."There I am, a 30-year-old man, and it felt like the first day of school. Everybody knows that Im a talker. I love to chirp. I love to keep things loose. But that first week, I sat there, getting dre sed, not saying a peep.

"Getzy, Perry and the rest of the team Anibal Sanchez Jersey couldnt have been more welcoming, but were talking 10-plus years of battling against these guys. Im thinking, I better just shut up and try to absorb how things are done here," Kelser wrote. "Pro-tip for the guys who just got moved at the deadline: Dont come into the locker room guns blazing. Dont try to make any jokes the first week. Feel the room out first. Be respectful."

During his time with the Canucks, Keslerwas aself-profe sed antagonizer and took pride in his Glen Perkins Jersey work. When it came to getting under the skin of Getzlaf, Perry or anyone else on the hated Ducks, he had his go-tos, "most of whichcant be printed here," Kesler said. "My 6-year-old already knows how to Google."

with Getzlaf and Perry.

Talk about awkward.

"It would be easy to say that everything gelled instantly, and we all became best friends," Kesler said."But any hockey player whos ever gotten traded will call me on that B.S. right away. Thats not how it works. You have to prove yourself. It takes time to form that bond.

"When youre the new guy, all you want is for the boys to start giving you s; Thats when it stops being weird. When theyre Taylor Rogers Jersey treating you with kid gloves, its the worst feeling. Once you get hit with that first good chirp (in my case, it usually involves my big nose), things feel normal again."

Kesler's unlikely marriage with the Ducks has worked tothe advantage of all parties involved. Anaheim has maintainedthe NHL's best record for much of the season and will be a Cup favorite come playoff time. Keslerhas 17 goals and 41 points in 67 games, settling into his familiar role as an ultra-talented pest.

It's all been centered around one bigfeel-good story aboutthe most unlikely of friendships.

Who would've thunk it?

"Were a big, heavy team who loves to grind, which is perfect for my style," he wrote."Its a lot easier to line up on the Joe Mauer Jersey same side as Getzy and Perry. But Id be lying if I said it wasnt strange how its all worked out."
