What Fruitfulness is all about?

The Oxford Dictionary defines Fruitfulness as:  producing much fruit; fertile; producing good or helpful results; productive: producing many offspring.

A plant produces fruit, in the fruit there is the seed and the seed in turn produces fruits which also has seed inside of it, which goes on to produce fruits that have seed inside of them.

Fruitfulness is a cycle, it never is intended to end, the chain is not meant to be broken. That is the mind of God for creation from the beginning. After He created man in Genesis Chapter One and verse 28, He blessed them. He said to them : Be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it...”

So whether it is in Industry, commerce, family, ministry or career, whatever you are involved in, God wants you to be fruitful. It is such a pity that man has reduced the matter of Fruitfulness to only childbearing, especially in most parts of Africa.

I pray this will open your eyes to see what fruitfulness is, in its entirety.

It has been established that nothing works until you work it! Everything remains in its state of rest until a force is applied to it. God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ever ask or think, according to the power that works in you! Pls note that it is power at work (active) and not just power (passive)

Now in Gen 1:28, God blessed man “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”

To be blessed means to be empowered to succeed! Divinely engraced. When God spoke that word, He released along with the commandment, the divine ability to do that which He was asking to be done! God is our Love-God, He will never give us more than we can handle, He knows our capabilities, and so for Him to have asked us to be fruitful, He very well knows we are capable of doing it. Have you considered the trees of the field and the fishes of the sea, to which similar commandments were given? That they effortlessly fulfil their calling?

The issue therefore is that man made in the likeness and image of God, who has a soul, spirit and body has the capacity to reason and is at liberty to either choose to reason along with God or not, that’s why He said (Choose life that you might live!)

A life that is merely existing but not living is not worth it! God has given man the power of choice and discretion, so he can choose to be productive or not!

Some have hands but will not work with it! They forget the dignity of labour and hard work. As the wise book says a lazy man is like hinges on a door, swinging and swinging, but never moving away from its confinement.  He always has excuses, if a lion is not in the street, then the weather is unfavourable. He forgets that the Bible recommends that he that does not work should not eat!

Some of you will have to stop pampering lazy people around you and push them to go and work! What business has a young man/woman being jobless? There is always something to do that needs doing, and you don’t get it b?. Till the soil, work, find something doing, start from somewhere-everything big today, was small yesterday. It’s only the grave that starts from the top down; the natural order of life is down to up and not the other way round! When I was getting married, I was resolute to leave my  job and go settle down with my husband in another state. That is God’s order. A man and wife are not meant to get married only to be staying apart. Even at that, I was determined to create something for myself immediately I relocate. I said to myself : I cannot be idle, i can’t be jobless. If no one employed me. I was ready to be self-employed! And who says you must be employed by someone!

Fruitfulness  is also defined according to Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary  as having many good results, producing a lot of crops.  In other words, I say Fruitfulness means prospering in every area or aspect of life.

Scripture says in Prov 14:23 In all labour there is profit...! All labour be it spiritual or physical.

Dear friend, If you are called barren in any area of life, you are simply not yet working in the fruitfulness that God had so graciously made available to his children. You are not a barren man or woman, waiting on God or believing God to be fruitful, rather you are a fruitful man or woman, who is yet to actualize God’s ordained plan for his or her life.

This brings to mind the story of the prodigal son and his brother.

A certain man had two sons:

12  And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13  And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14  And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15  And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16  And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17  And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18  I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19  And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20  And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21  And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25  Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

26  And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27  And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28  And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29  And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

30  But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31  And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine

Luke 15:11-31

At some point both of them were not enjoying the fathers’ wealth. It was not because the wealth was not available or abundant but they refused to partake. The younger one after having taken a very bold step of asking for and receiving his portion from his father, ended up squandering the money and began to suffer to the point that he was greatly abased,  but shortly after he came to his senses, returned home, got pardoned and returned to affluence. But for the time he suffered, it was his choice and not his father’s. Meanwhile the older one was all this while at home with the father, very obedient and well-behaved, but he never asked for anything from his father, he never demanded for anything more than what every other person (slave) got, meanwhile everything was his  (And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine ) Luke 15:31

Everything was his, all belonged to him, it was only that he didn’t make use of it.

“And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22  And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.- Lk 16:21:

Lazarus also desired to eat crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table, it was simply his desire. One who was the seed of Abraham, whose Abraham’s blessing was. But he refused to rise up to his reponsibilty to receive what was rightly his.

Hence God speaking in Hosea 4:6, says My people perish for lack of knowledge. Eccl 10:15 :The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.

I am determined to enjoy every single benefit and priviledge that Jesus has purchased for me, by shedding his most precious blood. Otherwise, how would i look him in the face to tell him that even after all He did, i was still sickly or unhealthy, not enjoying peace, lacking money and not yielding fruit in some or all areas of my life.

God has indeed prepared a table before you, in the presence of your enemy (Pslm 23) but He is not going to spoon-feed you! Rise up and take responsibility. It is time to break forth on all sides.

He has blessed you already, you are empowered to be fruitful and you can trust God to keep his words (Psalm 89:34) He will not reverse the blessing. You are to run with this word, while He ensures you get results. He watches over his word to perform them.

He upholds all things by the word of His power. There is enough power  contained in His word to cause it to produce in your life if only you believe.

I know you have heard similar things being said before now, but i implore you to consider these things and make a change.  May the word of God bear fruit in your life, from now on, in the name of Jesus.

God bless you.
