Runelite HD Developer "117" posted on Reddit Tuesday to share the message from Jagex and was later confirm by Jagex in its blog article. Jagex wrote to 117 that its work on the development of an HD variant of Old School Runescape was "still fairly early in the exploration stage" but "very far from being finished."

"Naturally, this means the fan-led project that seeks to change the way Old School RuneScape looks will not be compatible with our plans," Jagex wrote to 117. "We consider it absolutely essential to have consistency with regards to the way Old School looks and we'd like to ensure that our official changes will be the only ones we have available.
