Here is some information about the water flow sensors.

Water flow sensors are used for gauging mass flow, flow velocity, or a volumetric flow rate of a liquid. A water rotor and a hall effect sensor have presented the sense and measured the water flow. The water flow sensors consist of a plastic valve from which water can pass. When water flows via the valve, it rotates the rotor. This change is estimated as output as a pulse signal by the hall effect sensor.
