Diablo II: Resurrected Public Test Realm to d2r items Launch Tomorrow Ladder Tests Coming Soon. It appears that Diablo II: Resurrected is taking steps forward on some long-promised enhancements, as Blizzard has announced the launch of the game's Public Test Realm (PTR) will launch tomorrow. Initially, the PTR will be utilized to evaluate new back-end server features, however Blizzard promises testing of version 2.4 which, finally, introduces Ladder Play, is "coming very soon."

As we mentioned, as previously mentioned, 2.4 includes Ladder play (Diablo's name for an extremely competitive Realm where everyone's progress is tracked and ranked), some changes to mercenaries. This is the first opportunity ever, players will have the chance to unlock many new Rune Words in the Ladder system! To be clear the new Rune Words have never existed in the game before, and they won't be available in non-Ladder play as was the case with the previous set ladder only Rune Words in the original Diablo II experience. At the end of the Ladder season players who are able to make them Rune Words will have their Ladder character moved to the "non-Ladder" variant of the game.
