NHL trade rumors Whos next Eight players who could be dealt

The rare three-team November blockbusterthat shook up the NHL earlier this week will have far-reaching effects on the trade market as the rest of the 2017-18 season unfolds.

In one fell swoop, Matt Duchene and Kyle Turris, this year'stwo most highly coveted trade chips, changed teams. The Senators and Predators, their new respective destinations, came away as big winners of the sweepstakes that had other NHL teams in a holding pattern for the better part of the last year. And suddenly, theteams in need of a top-tier center help (they are many)saw their options for a this-season fixdecrease dramatically.

That said, there Matthew Stafford Hoodies Sweatshirts are still trades to be made. With ahandful of high-end players headed for free agency this summer, there should be plenty of movement in the months and weeks leading into this year's Feb. 26 deadline, earlier than usual. Depending on teams' playoff outlooks, that number may increase yet.

Here are eight players who might be dealt in 2017-18, listed in order of the likelihood the finish the year with a team other than their current one.

James Neal, F, Golden Knights

Since the moment the Knightspoached Neal from the Predators in the expansion draft, he's been accepted as thelikeliest playermade available at this year's trade deadline. The 30-year-old free-agent-to-be is an attractive option forany contender in need of an offensive boost. That stock will only go up if he continues to score at a 60-point pace.

A Neal trade won't be considered as much of a lock should Vegasoverachieve and team owner Bill Foley decides to make a playoff push, but they've fallen back to Earth since a surprise 8-1 start and Brycen Hopkins Jerseys will probably stay there. Ultimately, he'llfetch adraft pick/prospect package too good to turn downfor the future-focused Knights.

MORE:

Mike Green, D, Red Wings

Green's hot start to the season (13 points in 16 games) couldn't come at a better timefor the rebuilding Red Wings, who desperately need to shed a few of theirbloated contracts and likely aren't interested inre-signing the 32-year-old defenseman. A suming health isn't a factor when the trade deadline approaches Green has played a full 82 games once in his career he'll be one of only a handful of blue liners available. A reunion with his old team, the Capitals, would be fun.

MORE:

Evander Kane, F, Sabres

Kane's standing with the Sabres is a complete to s-up. At 26, there are many who view the big winger as a core piece to the team's ongoing rebuild. But a history of off-ice i sues is enough to give pause tonew general manager Jason Botterillbefore handing Kane a lucrative multi-year extension. To his credit, Kane has stayed out of trouble recently, is one of the few Sabres scoring goals, and has a chemistry with starlinemate Jack Eichel, the franchise's $80 million investment.

Committing to Kane long term or selling him for a premium at the deadline will serve asBotterill's first major dilemma.

POWER RANKINGS:

Rick Nash, F, Rangers

Nash is in the final season of theeight-year, $62.4 million contract the Rangers inherited in their 2012 blockbuster trade with the Blue Earnest Brown IV Jerseys Jackets. At 33, he's a star in rapid decline who hasn't topped 40 points since 2014-15 and comes with a $7.8 million cap hit. But if the Blueshirts fall behind in the playoff race and are willing to eat some salary, Nash could be regardedas an attractive veteran rental option. This scenario depends on where the Rangers are in the standings come February.

MORE:

James van Riemsdyk, F, Maple Leafs

There's not a ton of room for van Riemsdykin the Leafs' future planswith expensive extensions Bobby Wagner Jerseys looming for their young core, so it's probable the veteran winger hits free agency this summer. Unlike the above scenarios, van Riemsdykisn't a rental candidate since Toronto should stayin contention. But the Leafs could use him as leverage to trade for NHL-ready help on defense before the deadline.

There are enough top-six needy teams out there (ahem, Edmonton) fora mutually beneficial one-for-one deal to present itself, even if vanRiemsdyklikely wouldn't fetch as great of a return as a Mitch Marner, who's been a popular rumor candidate of late.

MORE:

Alex Galchenyuk, F, Canadiens

The trickle down from Duchene and Turriscoming off the market most directly affects Galchenyukand the two centers listed below. For teams in need of a top-line pivot, options are scarce. And even though the Canadiens are one of those teams, their insistence on playingGalchenyukonthe wing, despite his preference to stay in the middle, has made this a poor fit. The Habswould do well to end theexperiment, given the market demandand their continued offensive struggles.

Columbus makes the most sense after Justin Hollins Jerseys losing out on Duchene and Turris.

MORE:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, F, Oilers

The Oilers have a host of needs withfew chips to bargain with. Nugent-Hopkins' name is one that seems to surface in rumors most often. The 2011 No. 1 overall pick hasn't been the star Edmonton hoped he would become, but he's a solid two-way center who could benefit from a change of scenery. And with Connor McDavid's$12.5 millions cap hit kicking in next season, general managerPeter Chiarellineeds to decide where Nugent-Hopkins and his contract fitinto the Oilers'future, either this season or over the summer.

FILM SESSION:

John Tavares, F, Islanders

Tavares stands to if he reaches the open market this summer, meaning anything is on the table as the rest of 2017-18 playds out.It can't be AJ Jackson Jerseys overstated that there are a number of moving parts which wouldmakea pre-deadline Tavares trade the longshot of all longshots.

The most important variable is the Islanders' arena situation, which, while far from a done deal, . If resolved, it's a sumed a new contract for Tavares will come almost immediately. Plus, Tavares has the Islanders looking like a playoff team in the early going. He'll be in the Hart conversation if it keeps up, and the Islanders almost certainly will take their chances at re-signing the captain in June in a playoff run is even a remote po sibility.

Still, there remains a chance everything falls apart, the Isles become postseasonlongshots and time runs out for an arena solution in the New York metro area. In such a doomsday scenario, the franchise would have no choice but to jumpstart the rebuild by trading Tavares.
